Two Cardiac Arrest Survivors Reunited With Rescuers and Hospital Staff
LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) personnel and members of the Valley Presbyterian Hospital staff joined two cardiac survivors as they were reunited with firefighters, paramedics and hospital staff who cared for them after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest in separate incidents.
The survivors, Michael Parent and Ronnie Noriega, were each participating in their daily work routines, when they suffered cardiac arrest. If not for the immediate intervention of untrained bystanders performing CPR with the help of 9-1-1 LAFD Dispatchers, we probably would not have them with us today.
LAFD Chief Ralph Terrazas recognized the life-saving work of the bystanders, dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics and hospital team and encouraged the public to learn CPR and use it when the need arises.
Mr. Parent and Mr. Noriega Gold were able to meet and offer their thanks to their rescuers and members of their medical team, who each received a Certificate of Recognition from Chief Terrazas.
