On the morning of November 26, 2018 at 7:46 AM, the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived to a large six-story “U” shaped center hallway apartment building on the 3300 block of West 4th Street in Koreatown, to find fire in one unit.

Despite excessive storage conditions, firefighters rapidly advanced hose lines to the top floor apartment where sprinklers held the blaze in place, stopping it from spreading into the hallway and nearby units.  As firefighters made entry they found a male occupant and quickly rescued him from the apartment where firefighter/ paramedics rendered immediate medical aid.  During this time, the 74 firefighters on-scene coordinated their efforts to extinguish the flames in just 25 minutes.

The 70-year-old male occupant was transported to a local hospital unfortunately in grave condition with CPR being performed. Per protocol, the fire is under investigation by the Arson/Counter-Terrorism Section.
