LAFD Battles Van Nuys Commercial Building Fire
Van Nuys - Los Angeles firefighters battled a fire burning at a large commercial building in Van Nuys on Wednesday night.
At 8:45 PM on December 21, 2016, the LAFD responded to a Structure Fire at 7834 Sepulveda Blvd to find a two-story commercial building with fire through the roof.
Firefighters utilized powerful saws to force entry into the building, quickly determined it was not occupied, and went into defensive operations. Large hose streams were utilized to pour water from the exterior, rather than have firefighters make an offensive attack inside the well involved building that quickly was becoming structurally compromised.
At total of 70 firefighters were able to fully extinguish the blaze in 38 minutes. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under active investigation by the LAFD Arson Section and the estimated dollar loss is being determined.
